Ingredients

Salisbury Steaks
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Gravy
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water (to mix with cornstarch)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, onion, egg, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well but do not overmix. Divide into 4 portions and shape into patties.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir and bring to a simmer.
  4. Mix cornstarch and water, then add to the skillet, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  5. Return patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over each. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Serve Salisbury steaks with gravy, accompanied by mashed potatoes or a vegetable of choice.

Notes

For an extra-rich meal, serve with mashed potatoes to soak up the flavorful gravy.
