Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, food coloring, vanilla; mix well.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet; form dough. Chill 30 minutes.
- Shape dough into balls, coat in powdered sugar, place on baking sheet.
- Bake 10-12 minutes. Cool before serving.
Notes
Chilling the dough makes it easier to handle and results in better cookies.
