Method
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- Combine dry ingredients. Mix egg and buttermilk, add to dry ingredients, and stir in butter. Pour into pan.
- Bake for 65-70 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use salted butter and add a handful of raisins or currants to the dough.
