Homemade green bean casserole

A classic holiday side dish with tender green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, and crispy fried onions.

Ingredients
  

Green Beans
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup 10.5 oz can
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 cup fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • to taste salt and pepper

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Blanch green beans for 5 minutes, then drain and rinse.
  2. Mix mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add green beans and stir.
  3. Transfer to a baking dish, top with half of the fried onions, and bake for 25 minutes.
  4. Remove, stir, top with remaining onions, and bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy.
  5. Let cool briefly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a dash of garlic powder or cheese.
