Ingredients
  

Butter and Sugar Mixture
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Egg and Milk Mixture
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
Cinnamon Sugar for Coating
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Bread and Cooking
  • 8 slices soft white bread, crusts cut off
  • 3 tablespoons butter, for saute pan
Serving
  • maple syrup for serving

Method
 

  1. Melt 3 tbsp butter and stir in sugars and cinnamon until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Whisk eggs and milk in a shallow bowl. Mix cinnamon and sugar for coating.
  3. Trim crusts, roll bread thin, spread with butter mixture, and roll up. Dip in egg mixture and cook in butter until golden, then coat with cinnamon-sugar.
  4. Serve immediately with maple syrup.

Notes

Use fresh bread for best results and serve immediately for optimal crispiness.
