Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar for icing
  • 2 tablespoons milk for icing
  • optional food coloring for decorating

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Mix dry ingredients; cream butter and sugar. Add egg and extracts, then combine with dry mixture.
  2. Shape dough into balls, flatten, and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
  3. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make icing, divide and add food coloring. Decorate cooled cookies with icing and sprinkles.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough before rolling out.
