  • 1 pound fresh cheese curds
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper in a shallow dish.
  2. Whisk together the egg and milk in another shallow dish.
  3. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
  4. Dredge cheese curds in flour, dip in egg, and coat with panko. Ensure full coating.
  5. Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry cheese curds in small batches for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For extra crispy cheese curds, double dredge them in the flour and panko breadcrumbs.
