Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat softened butter until creamy, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until just combined. Fold in sprinkles or nuts if desired.
  4. Drop dollops of dough onto the baking sheet, leaving space between cookies.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool on a wire rack.
