Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Wet ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Decorations
  • as needed green food coloring
  • as needed royal icing (for decoration)
  • as needed sprinkles (for decoration)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix dry ingredients; set aside.
  2. Cream butter and sugar; add egg, vanilla, almond extract, and salt.
  3. Gradually blend in dry ingredients, add green food coloring.
  4. Roll dough, cut into tree shapes, place on baking sheets.
  5. Bake 8-10 minutes; cool, then decorate with royal icing and sprinkles.

Notes

Chill dough before rolling for easier handling.
