Method
- Coat the flank steak strips with cornstarch in a ziptop bag and set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a saucepan over medium-high. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add soy sauce, water, and brown sugar to the saucepan. Stir until sugar dissolves, then bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes to thicken.
- Cook the steak in a skillet with remaining olive and sesame oil over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes, until cooked through.
- Add broccoli to the skillet, pour in the sauce, and toss to coat. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until broccoli is crisp-tender.
- Stir in green onions. If desired, add red pepper flakes and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
Notes
If the sauce is too thin, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water and add to thicken.
