Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, milk, vanilla, then mix dry ingredients and combine. Divide batter into pans and bake for 30-45 minutes. Cool completely.
- Make frosting by beating butter, gradually adding powdered sugar, then mixing in cream and vanilla. Add food coloring if desired.
- Assemble the cake: layer cooled cakes, spread frosting between layers, then cover the top and sides. Decorate as desired.
